Sachin Tendulkar, one of the greatest batsmen ever to grace the game, has played a massive role in inspiring millions of youngsters across the globe.
The Mumbaikar had a fantabulous cricketing career. When Tendulkar decided to hang his boots in 2013, he was the leading run-scorer in Tests as well as in the ODI format. On top of that, the ‘Master Blaster’ also finished his international career as the highest century scorer in both Test and ODI cricket.
In fact, Tendulkar was such an influential personality that after his retirement, several cricket fans stopped watching cricket.
Not only the ordinary fans, but even a professional cricketer has also stopped watching cricket post Tendulkar’s farewell. The cricketer is Indian women’s wicket-keeper Sushma Verma.
The Shimla-born recently revealed that she used to be a keen Mumbai Indians (MI) supporter until Tendulkar said goodbye to Indian Premier League (IPL) after the 2013 season.
“I don’t watch much of the IPL now. I used to watch Mumbai Indians play when Sachin used to be a part of it,” Sushma told IANS.
Sushma even recalled the moment when she went to watch an MI game in Dharamsala. The batswomen revealed how she got disappointed when she noticed the absence of Tendulkar in the contest.
“I do admire Sachin Tendulkar a lot. Actually, Mumbai Indians had come to Dharamsala to play, and I was hoping to see Sachin play. But Sachin did not turn up to play. So, after that, I decided not to watch it again,” she added.
MS Dhoni was a great India captain
Sushma, who is currently out of the Indian side, further stated she is also a big fan of MS Dhoni.
“I have met Dhoni with the whole team, and I introduced myself to him and told him that I am too a wicket-keeper. Then he told me to keep up the good work. I like his style of batting, and he was a great Indian captain,” Sushma added further.
