Women’s T20 World Cup 2023: ICC announces the ‘Team of the Tournament’

After the conclusion of the Women’s T20 World Cup 2023, the International Cricket Council (ICC) announced the ‘Team of the Tournament.’ In the grand finale, South Africa met Australia, where the hosts faced a 19-run defeat as the Aussies clinched their sixth title.

Proteas star Laura Wolvaardt finished the tournament as the leading run-getter. She amassed 230 runs at an average of 46 and a strike rate of 106.48 with the help of three half-centuries. Similarly, English star Sophie Ecclestone completed the competition as the highest wicket-taker. The left-arm spinner took 11 scalps in five games at an outstanding economy rate of 4.15.

As many as four Australians made it into the Team of the Tournament, while three players were picked from South Africa. Two players from England and one each from India and West Indies were named in the special XI, with a future Ireland star named as the 12th player.
