The much-anticipated TATA Women’s Premier League (WPL) 2024 auction kicked off in Mumbai on December 9, setting the stage for an intense bidding war among the five franchises – Delhi Capitals, Gujarat Giants, Mumbai Indians, Royal Challengers Bangalore, and UP Warriorz.

With 165 players, including 104 Indian players and 61 overseas talents, going under the hammer, the auction promised excitement and strategic moves as teams aimed to strengthen their squads for the upcoming season.

Annabel Sutherland and Kashvee Gautam steal the spotlight

The auction witnessed a head-to-head bidding war for two standout players – Annabel Sutherland and Kashvee Gautam. Both players secured lucrative deals, each bagging an impressive INR 2 crore. Delhi Capitals successfully roped in Sutherland, while Gujarat Giants secured the services of Kashvee.

Vrinda Dinesh lands a major deal

The auction also showcased the potential of uncapped players, with Vrinda Dinesh becoming a notable highlight. UP Warriorz made a substantial bid of INR 1.3 Crore to secure her services, emphasizing the franchise’s confidence in her abilities.
