Australia‘s middle-order batter Beth Mooney has etched her name into the record books by smashing the joint second-fastest century in Women’s ODIs. In the ongoing series decider against India at the Arun Jaitley Stadium in New Delhi, the left-handed batter reached the three-figure mark in a blistering 57 balls, a feat that showcased her incredible striking ability.

A record-breaking performance from Beth Mooney in 3rd Women’s ODI against India

Coming to the crease at number four, Mooney wasted no time in seizing control of the innings. She reached her half-century in just 31 balls, setting the stage for her assault on the Indian bowlers. The historic century arrived in the 38th over when she elegantly guided a delivery from Radha Yadav for a boundary. This century is Mooney’s fourth in her 85-match ODI career and came after a crucial 106-run partnership for the third wicket with fellow all-rounder Ellyse Perry, who contributed a steady 68 runs.

Mooney’s 57-ball century puts her in elite company, tying her for the joint-second fastest century in the history of Women’s One-Day Internationals. The top spot in this record list belongs to none other than former Australian captain Meg Lanning, who scored a century in an astonishing 45 balls against New Zealand on December 17, 2012. Mooney’s record-breaking knock against India in the series decider highlights her ability to perform under pressure and reinforces her status as one of the most dominant batters in the modern game.

Mooney’s explosive century powers Australia Women to over 300 against India in Delhi

Australia Women have set a daunting target of 380 runs after posting 379/6 in their 50 overs against India Women in the 3rd ODI at the Arun Jaitley Stadium in Delhi. Australia, who elected to bat first, were off to a quick start with captain Alyssa Healy (30) falling early, but the real show began when Georgia Voll (81 off 68 balls) and Perry (68 off 72 balls) steadied the ship.

The biggest breakthrough for the Australians, however, was the stunning performance from Mooney, who hammered 138 runs off just 75 balls, including 23 boundaries and a six, taking the game away from India. Ashleigh Gardner added 39 runs, while Tahlia McGrath was dismissed for 14.

Despite a spirited effort from India’s bowlers, including Kranti Goud, Renuka Singh and Sneh Rana, the Australians maintained their aggressive approach, finishing with a mammoth total. India now faces an uphill task to chase down this target, as Australia’s batting line-up has been firing on all cylinders. With a current run rate of 8.51, the Australians will be looking to push the total even further, leaving the Indian bowlers with little margin for error. The Indian team’s response will be crucial, and they will need to get off to a strong start with the bat to stand a chance against this imposing total.
