As the countdown begins for the ICC Women’s World Cup 2025, Australia’s star all-rounder Ellyse Perry has expressed strong confidence in the squad’s depth and balance. “We’re really conscious of the fact that we’re incredibly fortunate to have some huge depth in our side, both batting and bowling,” Perry said at a sponsorship announcement for Chemist Warehouse before leaving for the India tour.
One of Australia’s greatest strengths lies in its seamless blend of experienced stalwarts and rising stars. Perry herself, along with Alyssa Healy, Beth Mooney, Ashleigh Gardner and Megan Schutt, brings years of experience and proven match-winning ability to the table.

Players like Annabel Sutherland, Phoebe Litchfield and Georgia Voll have already demonstrated their ability to perform under pressure. Perry emphasized that this balance ensures Australia can always field a competitive XI, regardless of injuries or form fluctuations.
“[There’s been] some fairly big changes to our group over the last four years,” Perry said.
“But in the last particularly 12 months, we’ve had a fairly stable group and some really amazing young talent emerge as mainstays as well, contributing consistently in every match.
“From that perspective, it’s definitely a slightly different-looking team, but I think still a really stable and established team.”
Beyond individual talent, Perry highlighted the team’s evolving mindset as a major factor in their recent dominance. According to her, Australia have consciously adopted a more aggressive and proactive approach, aiming to dictate terms from the very beginning of matches.
“We’ve made a conscious shift towards wanting to take the game on from the very start and probably keep our foot down for as long as we can,” Perry added. “Obviously, you’ve got to adapt to conditions and certain circumstances, but it just feels like there’s a real ethos within the group to make sure that we can utilise everyone’s talent on the day. It’s going to be one person’s day most of the time, not everyone’s, but if we can kind of really be consistent with that, we’ve got a good chance of being successful more often than not. I think that’s been a big shift for us.”
