Northern Superchargers all-rounder Annabel Sutherland produced a match-winning display on Tuesday, leading her side to a comfortable victory over Manchester Originals in The Hundred Women 2025. Sutherland first tore through the Originals’ batting lineup with a brilliant 3/15, before returning to guide the chase with an unbeaten 30. Her all-round brilliance earned her the Player of the Match award.

Originals struggle against Superchargers’ disciplined bowling

Put in to bat, the Originals never found momentum and limped to 94 from 95 balls. Alice Monaghan provided the only real spark, smashing 26 off 17 with two fours and two sixes. Skipper Beth Mooney (20) and Deandra Dottin (11) chipped in, but the rest failed to cope with Superchargers’ disciplined attack.

Sutherland was the standout with the ball, while Nicola Carey delivered excellent support, claiming 2/13. Linsey Smith, Kate Cross and Grace Ballinger picked up a wicket each, ensuring the Originals were kept under constant pressure.

Superchargers cruise in the chase

In reply, the Superchargers made light work of the modest target, winning with 35 balls to spare. Alice Davidson-Richards (30 off 18, 6 fours) set the tone with an aggressive start before Sutherland and Phoebe Litchfield (26 not out off 20) combined for a match-winning 54-run stand. Their unbroken partnership shut the door on any Originals fightback. Lauren Filer and Sophie Ecclestone were the only wicket-takers for the losing side.

The victory lifted the Northern Superchargers to second place, confirming their place in the Eliminator. London Spirit also benefited, sealing their own knockout berth thanks to the Originals’ defeat. The Eliminator will now see the Superchargers take on the Spirit on Saturday (August 30), with the winner earning the right to face Southern Brave, who topped the table unbeaten, in Sunday’s final.
