The West Indies Women’s team will tour England from May 21 to June 7, 2025, for a white-ball series comprising three T20 Internationals and three ODIs. The T20I leg kicks off on Wednesday, May 21 and wraps up on Monday, May 26, with matches set to be played across multiple venues in England.

New era for England under captain Nat Sciver-Brunt

England are set to usher in a new era under newly-appointed captain Nat Sciver-Brunt. The series will mark the beginning of a fresh chapter, following the end of Heather Knight’s nine-year captaincy and significant changes in leadership both on and off the field. The start of 2025 witnessed a major transition in English women’s cricket.

After a disappointing Ashes campaign against Australia in Australia, long-standing skipper Heather Knight stepped down from the role she had held since 2016. Her departure made way for Nat Sciver-Brunt, one of the world’s premier all-rounders and Knight’s long-time deputy, to take the reins. Adding further depth to this new phase is the arrival of Charlotte Edwards as head coach. A legend of the women’s game and a former England captain herself, Edwards replaces Jon Lewis as she aims to instill a sharper, more aggressive brand of cricket.

Rebuilding phase for West Indies after World Cup disappointment

For the West Indies, the tour is an opportunity for redemption. Their failure to qualify for the 2025 ICC Women’s ODI World Cup in India, confirmed last month, was a significant setback. But head coach Shane Deitz views this tour as a platform to regroup and rebuild. They will be without senior all-rounders Chinelle Henry and Deandra Dottin, two pivotal players. Instead, the team sees the return of captain Hayley Matthews, alongside a mix of seasoned players and exciting prospects. Notably, the squad features two new inclusions:

  • Realeanna Grimmond
  • Jahzara Claxton

These selections reflect a shift toward nurturing young talent and looking to the future.
