Scotland have announced their 15-player squad for the upcoming ICC Women’s Cricket World Cup Qualifier, set to take place in Pakistan next month. The team includes 12 players who participated in last year’s ICC Women’s T20 World Cup, with experienced all-rounder Kathryn Bryce continuing as captain as Scotland aims to qualify for its first-ever 50-over World Cup.

Notable omissions and key inclusions

Lacking from the team is Australian-born all-rounder Saskia Horley, who has made the decision to bring international cricket to a halt. Spinner Olivia Bell is absent due to injury to the shoulder.

Teenage batter Pippa Sproul made her first call-up following her impressive show at this year’s ICC Women’s Under-19 World Cup for whom she emerged as Scotland’s top run-scorer.

Coach Wallace backs Pippa Sproul for success

Scotland national team head coach Craig Wallace was convinced of Sproul’s ability and is confident that she will do well at senior level.

“Pippa (Sproul) is a first-time selection, and I’m just thrilled for her. Always such a great experience to come on tour for the first time, and I’m excited to have her and be with the group,” Wallace said.

“Hopefully, she will be able to bring the fine skills that she displayed in the Under-19 World Cup last January. She has a great temperament and is very aware of her game, so it will be interesting to see what she can do with more chances,” added Wallace.
