New Zealand Cricket has announced the ODI squad for the White Ferns ahead of their upcoming tour to India. The squad features an exciting addition, with uncapped wicketkeeper-batter Polly Inglis receiving her maiden call-up.

Inglis, 28, has been recognized for her outstanding performances during the Hallyburton Johnstone Shield one-day competition and her contributions to New Zealand A against England A. Her selection marks a significant step in her career, as she aims to make her international debut on this tour.

Changes in the White Ferns’ squad

Inglis’s inclusion comes as part of a few changes from the squad that competed in the recent T20 World Cup, where the White Ferns emerged victorious. Lauren Down returns to the squad after a maternity break, while pace bowler Rosemary Mair has been rested to manage her recovery from a long-term injury. Off-spinner Leigh Kasperek is also omitted from the ODI squad.

Head coach Ben Sawyer expressed enthusiasm about introducingInglis to the team. “We’re really excited to introduce Polly for her first tour. She put her hand up in last season’s Hallyburton Johnstone Shield and throughout the New Zealand A series against England, so it’s a great next step for her,” he said in his official statement.

Sawyer emphasized that this tour will serve as important preparation for next year’s ODI World Cup in India.

Tour schedule

The White Ferns will play three ODIs against India at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad:

  • 1st ODI: October 24
  • 2nd ODI: October 27
  • 3rd ODI: October 29
