Manchester Originals Women produced a clinical performance to outclass Welsh Fire Women in The Hundred Women 2025. From sharp bowling spells that restricted runs to a confident chase with the bat, the Originals never lost control. Their dominance ensured a comfortable win, leaving the Fire searching for answers after a tough outing.

Lauren Filer’s fiery spell rocks Welsh Fire

In the first innings Originals’ Pace spearhead Lauren Filer produced a fiery spell that completely shattered Welsh Fire’s hopes in their clash against Manchester Originals. Bowling with relentless intensity, she picked up three crucial wickets in the space of just five balls, leaving the opposition reeling. First, Sarah Bryce was undone by a superb delivery that crashed into her off-stump. On the very next ball, Emily Windsor paid the price for a rash square cut, beaten comprehensively as the stumps were disturbed. Filer then removed Jess Jonassen, who attempted to loft over mid-off but only managed to offer a simple catch at cover. That triple strike broke the backbone of Welsh Fire’s innings, restricting them to just 73 for 9 and ensuring the Originals stayed in total control.

Kathryn Bryce takes charge in Manchester Originals’ comfortable chase

Manchester Originals had little trouble completing the chase after restricting Welsh Fire to just 74. Although early wickets gave Fire faint hope, the calm presence of Kathryn Bryce settled the innings. She played with authority, finding gaps and keeping the run rate well under control. At the other end, Seren Smale offered steady support, ensuring no collapse unfolded. Their stand absorbed whatever pressure the bowlers tried to build, steadily pushing the score closer to the target. With plenty of deliveries left, the Originals crossed the finish line, sealing a comprehensive seven-wicket win and underlining their dominance.

For Welsh Women it was a dismal performance with the ball too. Their bowlers seemed to be missing key tricks against a strong opposition batting lineup. Only Hayley Matthews, Freya Davies and Jonassen chipped in with one wicket each, but that effort wasn’t nearly enough to trouble the confident Manchester chase.
