After months of thrilling cricket, Surrey Women claimed their maiden Vitality Blast title in 2025 with a convincing win over Warwickshire Women. Cheered on by their home crowd at the Kia Oval, they delivered a dominant performance to make history. The side has been exceptional throughout the season, losing just one game.

Warwickshire Women struggle against disciplined bowling attack

After being invited to bat first, Warwickshire had a shaky start with openers Meg Austin and Davina Perrin falling early. Issy Wong stepped up at number three, offering some momentum, but the team struggled with regular wickets. Laura Harris played a crucial cameo, scoring a quick 25 off just 11 balls to push the total past the 150-run mark, with Millie Taylor also contributing a steady 20.

Surrey once again impressed with the ball, as Alexa Stonehouse and Phoebe Franklin picked up two wickets each. They kept the pressure on and never allowed the opposition batters to settle. In the field, too, Surrey shone brightly—most notably with a sharp run-out of Sterre Kalis, a moment that swung the momentum firmly in their favour.

In reply, chasing a target of 154, Surrey never looked under pressure. The star of the show was Australian all-rounder Grace Harris, who smashed a match-winning 63 off just 33 balls, including seven fours and two sixes. She took the Warwickshire bowlers to task with ease and was rightly named Player of the Match. Experienced batter Sophia Dunkley also chipped in with a quick 23 lower down the order.

With the ball, Emily Arlott and Amu Surenkumar were the only bright spots for Warwickshire, picking up two wickets each. Hannah Baker claimed one, while the rest of the attack, including Wong and Taylor, struggled to contain the flow of runs, lacking both control and consistency. Their efforts couldn’t stop Surrey’s powerful chase, which ended with eight balls to spare.
