The delivery was travelling fast, yet Deepti’s reflexes and anticipation were immaculate, dismissing Jones for just 4 (5), and reducing England to a precarious 8 for 2.

Earlier, India Women posted a towering 318/5 in 50 overs, courtesy of a captain’s knock—Kaur struck a scintillating 102 off just 84 balls. Support flowed from Jemimah Rodrigues (50 from 45) and opener Smriti Mandhana (45), ensuring India maintained a brisk pace, with acceleration in the final overs as Richa Ghosh smashed an unbeaten 38 off just 18.
England’s response wobbled immediately with Deepti’s blinder and Goud’s early breakthroughs. However, a resilient partnership between Emma Lamb (68) and captain Nat Sciver-Brunt threatened to tilt the game back.
