Cricket West Indies has named a 15-member squad for the upcoming white-ball tour of England, scheduled from May 21 to June 7, 2025. The tour will feature three T20 Internationals and three One-Day Internationals across various venues in England.
Some key changes in the West Indies women squad
Captain Hayley Matthews will lead the side, with Shemaine Campbelle as her deputy. Veteran Stafanie Taylor remains the sole Jamaican in the squad, offering experience and stability in the middle order. The selectors have made two key changes from the team that participated in the World Cup Qualifiers in Pakistan. Exciting 20-year-old all-rounder Realeanna Grimond and fast bowler Jahzara Claxton have been called up, replacing Rashada Williams and Chinelle Henry.
Grimond has been in excellent form, finishing among the top run-scorers in the recent T20 Blaze. Claxton, a promising young pacer from St. Kitts, previously featured in the ICC Women’s Under-19 World Cup and now has a chance to shine at the senior level. Both are expected to make their international debuts on this tour.
West Indies women aims to reassert dominance on England tour
Head coach Shane Deitz expressed confidence in the team’s preparation and highlighted the importance of facing strong opponents like England. He emphasized the team’s commitment to playing fearless, attacking cricket in true West Indian style.
The squad departs for England on May 13, with the opening T20I set for May 21 at Canterbury. This series marks a crucial step in the team’s preparation for future global tournaments and rebuilding toward consistent success.
“This upcoming tour of England offers our women an important opportunity to reassert themselves on the international stage. It’s a chance to demonstrate the talent, grit, and character that are synonymous with West Indies cricket” the Head coach said.
