The discussion came in light of Kohli’s retirement from Test cricket, marking the end of a remarkable red-ball journey. Healy picked Kohli’s performance in the 2014 Adelaide Test as her most memorable moment from his Test career. She recalled how during the first match of the Border-Gavaskar Trophy in 2014-15 where Kohli, newly appointed captain in MS Dhoni’s absence, delivered twin centuries that nearly scripted a historic win for India. Walking into a high-pressure situation, Kohli counterattacked with authority, not only registering a century in the first innings but doing so against a formidable Australian pace trio featuring Mitchell Johnson, Ryan Harris and Peter Siddle with Nathan Lyon exploiting the conditions as well.
“I like one of my memories was I think in 2014 when they were out here his double well his back to-back hundreds in Adelaide he just got the captaincy from Dhoni had I don’t can’t remember if was injured or Virat um had taken over properly then but he came out and his counterattack against our bowling lineup i think it was like Mitchell Johnson Ryan Harris Peter Siddle Nathan Lion was there as well cuz I think Nate took seven for in that second innings to win us the game but Virar went 100 in the first innings like changed the pace of the game really quickly took put it back on the bowlers,” Healy said.

Second innings masterclass and the spirit of leadership
Healy further revealed that how in the second innings, with India chasing a steep target on a deteriorating pitch, Kohli once again rose to the challenge. He batted with calculated aggression and confidence, leading from the front and keeping India in the hunt until his dismissal. Still, for Healy, Kohli’s effort stood out not because of the result but for the sheer dominance and character it showed. His intent to lead by example, fearlessly taking on the bowlers, highlighted the transformation of a batter into a true leader, something that left an indelible mark on Healy’s cricketing memory.
“I think he was went hard at Mitchell Johnson um to make 100 there and then kept his team in the fixture in the second innings by making another 100 and as soon as he got out basically the the game was won for Australia so um that was one for me it was like he’s taken over the captaincy and he’s gone bang I’m going to lead by example and and come out and and show everyone how we want to play our t cricket so that’s one that stands out for me and I can bring that one up cuz Mitchell Starc wasn’t playing so I can’t I could actually say that one but um no I just remember thinking like wow like that’s a leader um to do that so yeah well it’s sad we won’t get to see that again but um hopefully many more white ball memories,” Healy concluded.
