The Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) has officially unveiled its squad for the upcoming ICC Women’s Cricket World Cup Qualifier 2025, a crucial tournament that will determine the final two teams qualifying for the ICC Women’s Cricket World Cup 2025 in India.
The qualifier will feature six teams – Bangladesh, West Indies, Ireland, Scotland, Thailand and hosts Pakistan – all competing for the last two available spots in the marquee event. The tournament is set to take place in Lahore, Pakistan, from April 5 to April 19.
Bangladesh’s path to qualification and tournament overview
Bangladesh have been steadily growing as a competitive force in women’s cricket. However, after failing to secure direct qualification, they now face a challenging route through the qualifiers. The Women’s Cricket World Cup Qualifier 2025 will follow a round-robin format where each team will play against the others once. The top two teams at the end of the group stage will earn their place in the eight-team World Cup. While defending champions Australia, along with England, South Africa, Sri Lanka, New Zealand and hosts India, have already sealed their spots, Bangladesh must prove their mettle to join them.
Bangladesh’s squad and key players
The Bangladesh team for the tournament will be led by experienced wicketkeeper-batter Nigar Sultana Joty, while off-spinner Nahida Akter has been named vice-captain. The squad includes a blend of seasoned campaigners and young talent, ensuring a balanced lineup for the high-stakes competition. The team will rely heavily on the leadership of Joty, who has been instrumental in stabilizing the batting order.

Bangladesh will kick off their campaign against Scotland on April 6, followed by matches against Ireland on April 8, West Indies on April 10, Pakistan on April 12, and Thailand on April 14 – all of which will be played in Lahore.
