Delhi Capitals bowlers dominate as Mumbai Indians struggle to 123/9
Delhi put on a clinical bowling display to restrict Mumbai to a modest total of 123/9 in their WPL 2025 clash at the M Chinnaswamy Stadium, Bengaluru. Opting to field first after winning the toss, Delhi’s bowlers kept Mumbai’s batting lineup under pressure throughout the innings.
Mumbai got off to a decent start with Yastika Bhatia and Hayley Matthews adding 35 runs for the opening wicket. However, the momentum shifted when Shikha Pandey dismissed Bhatia in the sixth over. Matthews fell soon after to Sutherland, triggering a collapse. Skipper Harmanpreet Kaur looked promising with a 16-ball 22 but was trapped lbw by Jess Jonassen, leaving Mumbai reeling at 73/3.
Nat Sciver-Brunt played a sluggish knock of 18 off 22 balls before Jonassen struck again to remove her. Kerr tried to rebuild the innings but was dismissed for 17, thanks to a spectacular diving catch by Sutherland off Mani’s bowling. Mumbai’s lower order crumbled under pressure, with Sajeevan Sajana (5), G Kamalini (1) and Sanskriti Gupta (3) falling cheaply. Jonassen and Mani were the pick of the bowlers, taking three wickets each, while Sutherland and Pandey chipped in with a wicket apiece.
