Ghosh, looking to open up the off-side by giving herself room, attempted to cut or steer the ball behind point. However, she misread the line and failed to cover her stumps, leaving a massive gap between the bat and pad.
As the ball skidded in with precision, it sneaked past Ghosh’s attempted shot and crashed into the off stump, sending it cartwheeling out of the ground. The sight of the stump being knocked out left the crowd in stunned silence, while Amanjot roared in celebration. Ghosh, who had been playing fluently with 28 runs off 25 balls, including three boundaries and a six, was left disappointed as she walked back, knowing she had misjudged the delivery.
This wicket came at a crucial moment in the match, with RCB looking to build momentum. At 107/5, Ghosh’s dismissal left them vulnerable, handing the advantage back to the bowling side. RCB find themselves in a tricky position at 119/6 after 15.4 overs against Mumbai at the M. Chinnaswamy Stadium. Opting to bat first, RCB got off to an explosive start, thanks to Smriti Mandhana’s 26 off 13 balls, striking at an impressive 200. However, her dismissal in the third over to Shabnim Ismail triggered a collapse, with Danni Wyatt-Hodge (9), Raghvi Bist (1) and Kanika Ahuja (3) departing cheaply, reducing RCB to 57/4 in just over seven overs.
Ellyse Perry has been the lone stabilizing force, playing a crucial unbeaten knock of 44 off 28 deliveries, finding gaps and keeping the scoreboard ticking. She built an important 50-run stand with Ghosh (28 off 25), who fell to Amanjot’s sharp delivery in the 14th over. Georgia Wareham followed soon after, handing Amanjot her second wicket as Mumbai continued to tighten their grip.
Mumbai’s bowling unit has been disciplined, with Amanjot (2/8 in 1.4 overs) and Amelia Kerr (0/16 in 3 overs) keeping things tight. Shabnim Ismail, despite being expensive (1/36), picked up the crucial wicket of Mandhana. With Perry still at the crease, RCB will look to push past 150, but Mumbai remains in control heading into the final overs.
