Gongadi Trisha was the star of the Indian team during their triumphant campaign of the Women’s U-19 T20 World Cup held in Malaysia recently. The emphatic batter has emerged as a major talking point in the cricketing world due to her majestic display with the bat and the ability to adapt according to the team’s situation.

After her return to the country following a successful run of the Women’s youth team to win the U-19 World Cup for the second time in a row, she was given a massive reward by the chief minister of her home state, Telangana, which acknowledges the tall figure she has turned out to be through her performances in the tournament.

Telangana CM facilitated Gongadi Trisha after her India return

During a meeting at his residence in Jubilee Hills, Hyderabad, Telangana Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy praised Trisha for her exceptional performance in India’s victorious campaign at the 2025 Under-19 Women’s T20 World Cup in Malaysia. He commended her for emerging as a global cricketing talent after her brilliant display in the tournament, where she was named Player of the Tournament. In recognition of her remarkable achievement, the CM announced a generous cash reward of INR 1 crore. The Telangana government also acknowledged the contributions of other key players from the state who played pivotal roles in the team’s success. Trisha was born and raised in Badrachalam in Telangana.

Additionally, Dhrithi Kesari, another member of the victorious Indian squad from Telangana was awarded INR 10 lakh, despite not having the opportunity to play in the tournament. Additionally, Team India’s head coach, Nooshin Al Khadeer, a former Indian cricketer, along with trainer Shalini, were each presented with INR 10 lakh for their contributions. These recognitions highlight the state government’s dedication to honoring and rewarding sporting talent.

Trisha played a key role in India’s title defense, finishing as the tournament’s top run-scorer with an impressive 309 runs. She averaged 77.25 and maintained a strike rate of 147.14. Notably, she became the first batter to score a century in the competition, achieving this feat against Scotland. In addition to her batting success, Trisha also excelled with the ball, taking seven wickets at an economy rate of 3.75, demonstrating her exceptional all-round capabilities on the cricket field.
