King produced a breathtaking delivery in the first innings, which led to her cleaning up England’s Danielle Wyatt-Hodge. This wicket marked her 50th in the ODI format, an impressive feat she reached in just 36 matches.

King’s remarkable achievement came in the 17th over of England’s innings, when she bowled a sensational delivery to Wyatt-Hodge. With a perfect leg break that pitched on the leg stump and spun sharply away, the ball bypassed the batter’s defense, clipping the top of the off stump. Wyatt-Hodge was left clueless, offering no shot as the ball rattled the stumps. The clean bowled dismissal was a testament to King’s skill and precision, and it proved to be a crucial turning point in the match. Wyatt-Hodge was dismissed for a golden duck (0 off 1 ball), and Australia was back in the game. King’s 50th wicket in the format solidified her reputation as a key player for Australia.

King strikes again: Nat Sciver-Brunt falls to a stunning catch 

King was not finished with just one wicket. In the 23rd over, she struck again, this time removing the well-set Nat Sciver-Brunt. Sciver-Brunt, who had been anchoring England’s innings with a valuable knock of 35 runs (57 balls, including 5 fours), tried to glance a fuller delivery from King onto her leg stump. However, the ball spun sharply away, and Sciver-Brunt’s leading edge lobbed up into the air, where Phoebe Litchfield was waiting to take the catch in the covers. Sciver-Brunt’s departure at that stage was a significant blow to England’s chances, and King’s second wicket in as many overs brought Australia right back into the contest.

Turning the tide: Two wickets in an over

The 39th over of England’s innings showcased King at her lethal best. First, she dismissed Charlie Dean, who attempted a cheeky scoop shot under pressure from dot balls. The poorly timed shot resulted in a simple catch for Beth Mooney at slip. On the very next ball, King sent Sophie Ecclestone packing. A sharp leg-break outside off tempted Ecclestone into a rash cut, and wicketkeeper Alyssa Healy completed a sharp catch. King wrapped up her 10-over spell with astonishing figures of 4/25.
