The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has unveiled the 15-member squad that will represent Pakistan in the upcoming ICC U19 Women’s T20 World Cup 2025, scheduled to commence in Malaysia from January 18 to February 2, 2025. This announcement marks a significant step for Pakistan’s women’s cricket, aiming to make a mark on the international stage following their commendable performance in the inaugural tournament in 2023.
Komal Khan to lead Pakistan’s U19 Women’s squad
Leading the squad is the dynamic wicketkeeper-batter Komal Khan, who has been entrusted with the captaincy. Her vice-captain, Zoofishan Ayyaz, also brings leadership experience, having captained the team in the recent U19 Asia Cup. The team selection reflects a blend of experience and emerging talent, with several players from the previous tournament making their way back into the squad.
Training camp set for December to January in Karachi
The squad’s preparation includes a rigorous training camp at the Hanif Mohammad High Performance Centre in Karachi, set from December 31 to January 9, 2025. This camp is crucial for fine-tuning strategies, enhancing fitness, and building team cohesion. Post-camp, the team will fly out to Malaysia via Dubai on January 10, 2025, to acclimatize and participate in warm-up matches before the tournament begins.

Pakistan’s Group B fixtures and tournament schedule
Pakistan are placed in Group B alongside formidable teams like England, Ireland, and the USA. Their campaign kicks off against the USA on January 18, followed by a match against England on January 20, and concluding their group stage against Ireland on January 22. The team’s performance in the group stage will determine their progression to the Super Six phase, where they’ll aim to secure a spot in the semi-finals.
Coach Mohsin Kamal, who led the team to the Super Six stage in the 2023 tournament, will once again guide this promising squad. His experience and understanding of the U19 level are expected to be key in navigating through the challenges of the World Cup.
