The Sri Lankan Cricket Selection Committee has announced a 16-member squad that will represent their women’s team in the upcoming tri-series involving Australia and New Zealand. The series, which will take place in Australia, will feature both T20 and 50-over matches.

Sri Lanka’s campaign in the tri-nation series is set to kick off on September 20, 2024. The squad has been approved by the Ministry of Sports and Youth Affairs.

Controvery over Dilshan daughter’s selection

In a related controversy, Sri Lankan website Lankasara.com has reported allegations against former cricketer Tillakaratne Dilshan. According to the report, Dilshan allegedly used his political and administrative influence to secure his Australian-citizen daughter a spot in a national-level tournament, marking the first time in Sri Lankan cricket history that this has occurred. The claims have stirred significant debate, though no official response has been made by Dilshan or the cricket board.
