New Zealand‘s women’s domestic teams have finalized their squads for the highly anticipated 2024-25 season, with several players earning maiden contracts and others making their return to top-level cricket. From uncapped talents to experienced campaigners, the rosters showcase a blend of youth and experience as teams gear up for the upcoming domestic competitions. With the addition of promising cricketers such as Grace Foreman, Isy Parry, and Emma Irwin, the stage is set for an exciting season of women’s cricket across New Zealand.

Central Districts: Grace Foreman earns maiden contract

Central Districts have awarded a maiden contract to uncapped right-arm seamer Foreman. Hailing from New Plymouth, Foreman has steadily risen through the ranks of Taranaki and Central Districts’ pathway systems.

Having represented Central Districts at the Under-15 and Under-19 levels, Foreman was part of the side that clinched the 2022 NZC Under-19 national championship. She made her debut for the Districts A side last season and was also invited to a New Zealand Cricket (NZC) Under-19 national camp.

Canterbury has secured the services of batter Irwin as their 13th and final signing for the season. This will be Irwin’s second stint with Canterbury, after representing the New Zealand Under-19 side at the World Cup in January last year.

Auckland: Sophie Court earns spot after rising through pathway programme

Auckland has rounded off their roster with the signing of fast bowler Sophie Court. Court’s rise through Auckland Cricket’s Talent and Pathway programme, combined with her strong performances for Auckland Under-19 and Auckland A, has earned her a place on the contract list. She was part of the Auckland Under-19 team that won the women’s national under-19 tournament in Lincoln earlier this year.

Northern Districts has completed their contract roster with the signing of allrounder Carol Agafili. Agafili, who has represented Northern Districts in the past, also played for Samoa in three T20Is earlier this year.

Wellington: Gemma Sims rounds out roster

Right-hand batter Gemma Sims has been named as the final addition to Wellington’s roster for the upcoming season. Sims featured in six Super Smash matches for Wellington last season but will be looking to make a bigger impact this year.

Otago has awarded a maiden contract to Parry, marking her as the final signing for their roster ahead of the 2024-25 season.
