A missed opportunity for pride and glory
Nigar articulated the deep personal and collective disappointment experienced by her and her teammates. She conveyed that the decision has not only affected her but also the entire team, their families, friends, and fans who were eagerly anticipating the World Cup being hosted in Bangladesh.
The sense of loss is significant for her, as the opportunity to play in front of a home crowd was seen as a matter of great pride. Nigar emphasized that this opportunity, which was eagerly awaited by all involved, has now been taken away, depriving them of the chance to achieve a cherished milestone.
“To be honest I was really hurt from the core of my heart. I had a lot of dreams and not only me it was the same for all the players because it is not only us who were waiting to play the World Cup in our country but along with us our family also waited for it, like our friends, fans or our close ones. They were preparing in a different ways for this World Cup. As a player what I feel is that I missed the chance of having the pride of playing the World Cup in front of the home crowd. We are deprived of earning that pride,” added Nigar.
