Sri Lanka Women are gearing up to host West Indies Women for an eagerly anticipated white-ball series in June. This series marks Sri Lanka’s second bilateral T20I series of the year, following their successful tour of South Africa in March and April. The Sri Lankan team is also slated to tour Ireland in August, highlighting a packed international schedule.
Historical context and recent performances
The last bilateral series between Sri Lanka and West Indies dates back to 2017, where West Indies emerged victorious in both T20Is and ODIs. However, the upcoming series promises to be more competitive, given Sri Lanka’s impressive performances over the past year, which include historic series wins against England, New Zealand, and South Africa.
Additionally, Sri Lanka has recently secured qualification for the Women’s T20 World Cup. West Indies, on the other hand, come into this series after a successful month-long tour of Pakistan, where they won both the ODI and T20I series.
