The ICC Women’s T20 World Cup 2024 is set to take place in Bangladesh from October 3 to 20. The International Cricket Council (ICC) recently released the tournament schedule, which features ten teams divided into two groups of five. Group A includes India, six-time champions Australia, New Zealand, Pakistan, and Sri Lanka. Group B comprises South Africa, England, 2016 champions West Indies, Bangladesh, and Scotland.
Harmanpreet Kaur’s semifinal predictions
Meanwhile, Indian skipper Harmanpreet Kaur has shared her predictions for the semifinalists of the upcoming tournament. Unsurprisingly, she included India among the top four teams. According to Kaur, the other three teams that will advance to the semifinals are Australia, England, and South Africa.
Harmanpreet emphasized the strong performances of these teams in recent times. She reckoned that these teams have shown consistency and high-quality cricket, making them strong contenders for the semifinals.
“India, Australia, England, and South Africa. Because all these teams have been doing really well and hopefully these four can qualify for the semis so we can have very good cricket over there,” Harmanpreet stated during the fixture launch event.
Advantage of familiar conditions
The Indian captain noted that the playing conditions in Bangladesh are similar to those in India. This similarity could work to India’s advantage, providing them with a comfortable and familiar environment to perform at their best.
“Yeah, it’s a bit similar to India and hopefully, in these conditions, we should do well,” Kaur added.

Harmanpreet’s perspective on facing Australia
One of the most anticipated matches for India in the group stage is against Australia, the six-time champions. Australia have been a dominant force in ICC events, and while India have put up strong challenges, Australia have often had the upper hand in World Cup games.
Harmanpreet expressed her eagerness to face Australia, viewing the match as a crucial test for the Indian team. A strong performance against Australia could boost India’s confidence and set a positive tone for the rest of the tournament.
“I think it will be Australia (who I look forward to facing) because they are very competitive. If we do well against them, it will give us a lot of confidence and I’m really looking forward to playing against them,” Kaur further added.
