Team India are gearing up to tour Bangladesh for an intense five-match Women’s T20 International (T20I) series, set to commence on April 28. This series holds significant importance as it will aid both teams in preparations for the upcoming ICC Women’s T20 World Cup 2024, scheduled to take place in Bangladesh later this year.
T20I rankings
In the current ICC Women’s T20I Rankings, India hold the commendable No.3 position, while Bangladesh stands at No.9. The series presents an opportunity for both teams to fine-tune their strategies and strengthen their positions in the rankings.
Day-Night encounters to add fun
Three out of the five matches in the series will be day-night encounters, adding an exciting dimension to the competition and providing players with exposure to different playing conditions.

Historical context
This marks India’s second tour of Bangladesh in as many years and their third overall. In the previous tour in 2023, India participated in three T20Is and three ODIs. While India clinched the T20I series with a 2-1 victory, the ODI series ended in a 1-1 draw.
However, the tour was marred by controversy, with India captain Harmanpreet Kaur expressing dissatisfaction with umpiring decisions after the final ODI. Vice-captain Smriti Mandhana also emphasized the need for neutral umpires for subsequent tours.
