The tour is scheduled to commence with a three-match T20I series, followed by an equal number of ODIs. Notably, these matches will contribute to the ongoing ICC Women’s Championship 2022-25 cycle.

The tour holds significant importance in the context of ICC rankings, with South Africa presently positioned at No.2 on the ICC Women’s Championship standings. The hosts have accumulated 20 points from 15 games, trailing only behind table-toppers Australia. On the other hand, Sri Lanka hold the eighth position with 11 points from 15 games, underscoring the significance of this series in their bid for ascent.

The action-packed series is set to kick off on March 27 with the T20I leg taking place in Benoni. This tour marks a significant return for Sri Lanka’s women’s team to South Africa for a bilateral series since 2019. It is also noteworthy that this will be the first bilateral exchange between the two sides since 2019.
