In a significant development in the Women’s Premier League (WPL) 2024, New Zealand’s experienced pacer Lea Tahuhu has been roped in by the Gujarat Giants (GG) as a replacement player.

Lea Tahuhu signed for INR 30 lakh

The Gujarat Giants franchise, which competes in the highly anticipated WPL tournament, has bolstered its squad with the addition of Tahuhu, known for her exceptional pace and bowling prowess. Tahuhu’s inclusion comes as a replacement for Lauren Cheatle, who is unable to participate in the tournament due to neck injury.

“Tahuhu, who has represented New Zealand in 80 T20Is and 93 ODIs and has 78 and 109 wickets to her name in T20Is and ODIs respectively, will join GG for INR 30 Lakh,” the WPL Governing Body mentioned in their official statement.

“Cheatle, a left-arm pacer from Australia, recently underwent a medical procedure on her neck and will be unavailable for the upcoming TATA WPL season. WPL would like to wish Cheatle a speedy recovery,” the statement added.
