In a riveting encounter at Allan Border Field, Brisbane Heat emerged victorious against Hobart Hurricanes by a convincing margin of 53 runs in Match 39 of the Women’s Big Bash League (WBBL) 2023.

Brisbane Heat Innings

The Brisbane Heat posted a formidable total of 184/5 in their 20 overs, setting a challenging target for Hobart Hurricanes. Georgia Redmayne played a crucial role with a brilliant knock of 70 runs off 53 balls, anchoring the innings. Bess Heath‘s explosive contribution of 51 runs off 26 deliveries, including five fours and three sixes, added to the Heat’s commanding total.

In response, Hobart Hurricanes bowlers found it challenging to contain the Heat’s batting onslaught. Shabnim Ismail and Heather Graham were the standout performers, securing two wickets each.

Chasing 185 for victory, Hobart Hurricanes faced a stern challenge against a disciplined Brisbane Heat bowling attack. Despite Bryony Smith‘s spirited 28 runs and Nicola Carey‘s contribution of 27 runs, the Hurricanes faltered in their pursuit.

Jess Jonassen was the wrecker-in-chief for Brisbane Heat, claiming an impressive four-wicket haul. Nicola HancockAmelia Kerr, Chali Knott and and Courtney Sippel also made significant contributions, ensuring wickets fell at regular intervals.
