In a riveting encounter at Junction Oval, the Perth Scorchers Women secured a commanding victory over the Sydney Thunder Women, continuing their impressive run in the Women’s Big Bash League (WBBL) 2023.

Perth Scorchers Innings:

The Scorchers’ batting display was anchored by a stellar century from Beth Mooney, who played a sensational knock of 101 runs off 61 balls, including 17 fours. Chloe Piparo‘s brisk contribution of 22 not out off 16 balls also added valuable runs to the total.

Despite some economical bowling efforts from Sydney Thunder, particularly by Hannah Darlington who claimed two wickets, the Scorchers posted a formidable total of 159/4.

Sydney Thunder Women Innings:

Chasing the target, Sydney Thunder faced a formidable challenge against the disciplined bowling attack of Perth Scorchers. Phoebe Litchfield‘s resilient 45 runs off 38 balls and Sammy-Jo Johnson‘s 34 runs off 33 balls were the notable contributions.

The Scorchers bowling attack, led by Amy Edgar (3/18), Chloe Ainsworth (2/8) and Sophie Devine (2/27) kept a tight grip on the Sydney Thunder’s proceedings, restricting them to 117/8.

Result:

Perth Scorchers won the match by 42 runs.
