In a low-scoring semifinal at the Pingfeng Campus Cricket Field, Sri Lanka Women outclassed Pakistan Women to secure a place in the summit clash of the Asian Games Women’s T20I 2023. The toss saw Sri Lanka Women opt to bowl first, and their decision proved fruitful as they restricted Pakistan Women to a mere 75/9 in their allotted 20 overs.

Pakistan Women’s Innings:

Pakistan Women faced a challenging task against Sri Lanka’s disciplined bowling attack. Opening batter Shawaal Zulfiqar top-scored for Pakistan with 16 runs, while contributions from other batters were limited. Udeshika Prabodhani and Kavisha Dilhari were the standout bowlers for Sri Lanka, picking up three and two wickets respectively.

Sri Lanka Women’s Innings:

Chasing a paltry total, Sri Lanka showcased solid batting performances. Harshitha Samarawickrama‘s composed 23 and valuable contributions from Chamari Athapaththu and Nilakshi de Silva helped Sri Lanka reach the target comfortably. They achieved victory with 6 wickets in hand and 21 balls to spare.

Sadia Iqbal, Diana Baig and Umme Hani took wickets for Pakistan, but their efforts were not enough to prevent Sri Lanka from sealing their spot in the final.

The gold medal match between India and Sri Lanka will be played at the same venue on Monday, September 25.
