In a historic moment in Pakistan Women’s cricket, the Nida Dar-led side registered a whitewash over South Africa after winning the third and final game of the 3-match T20I series at the National Stadium in Karachi on Monday.
The contest went down to the wire where the hosts managed to clinch a nail-biting victory by just six runs, securing a 3-0 series clean sweep. After being asked to bat first, Pakistan posted a competitive total of 150/5 in their allotted 20 overs.
The top contributors with the bat for Pakistan were Sidra Ameen (39 runs), Bismah Maroof (39 runs), and skipper Dar (36 runs). Tumi Sekhukhune was the pick of the bowlers for the touring party, taking crucial two wickets and conceding only 24 runs in her 4-overs spell.

Laura Wolvaardt’s brilliant knock goes in vain
In reply, South Africa Women put up a valiant effort, led by their skipper Laura Wolvaardt’s magnificent batting. The right-handed batter smashed a sensational knock of of 72 runs from just 54 balls. Her innings was laced up with 9 cracking boundaries.
However, the rest of batting lineup couldn’t provide enough support and the Proteas fell short of the target, managing 144/5 in their 20 overs. The Pakistan bowlers, especially Sadia Iqbal (2 wickets) and Nashra Sandhu (2 wickets), played a pivotal role in restricting the South African batting lineup.

Despite ending up on a losing side, Wolvaardt earned the Player of the Match award for her outstanding performance with the bat. Throughout the series, Wolvaardt impressed with her batting, amassing 157 runs in 3 games. She was also awarded with Player of the Series reward.
