The England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB) has revealed the complete schedule for the England women’s cricket team for the year 2024, promising an exciting lineup of matches for fans to look forward to.
The action-packed season will kick off with a home series against Pakistan, commencing on May 11. The series will feature a three-match T20I contest followed by three One Day Internationals (ODIs). Following the remarkable ticket sales and overwhelming response received during the Women’s Ashes this summer, England will once again witness the thrill of women’s cricket being hosted at major grounds across the country.
In June and July, New Zealand will embark on a tour to England, presenting an opportunity for some enthralling encounters. The iconic Lord’s, The Oval, and the Ageas Bowl are among the venues selected to stage the T20I matches against New Zealand. These renowned cricket grounds will undoubtedly provide the perfect stage for the players to showcase their skills and compete at the highest level.
Excitingly, a total of 14 different venues across England will have the privilege of hosting women’s international matches, highlighting the growing popularity and increased visibility of women’s cricket in the country.
As per the Future Tours Programme, England Women are also scheduled to participate in a white-ball series in Ireland during September. This series will serve as another opportunity for the team to showcase their prowess and continue their development on the international stage.
The ECB’s commitment to promoting and expanding women’s cricket in England is evident through the strategic planning of fixtures, including matches at prestigious venues and against high-quality opponents. These initiatives aim to further elevate the profile of women’s cricket and inspire the next generation of aspiring female cricketers.
“After attracting record ticket sales this summer it is fitting that the England Women’s team will open the international season next year at an iconic venue such as Edgbaston,” said Richard Gould, the ECB’s chief executive officer as quoted by ESPNcricinfo.
“Next summer’s schedule will see England Women play at more venues and allow more people to see their heroes in action as we look to maintain the growth the women’s game deserves,” Gould added.
