The Board of Cricket Control in India (BCCI) has announced the list of the players that will go under the hammer in the upcoming bidding event of the Women’s Premier League (WPL) 2023 in Mumbai on Monday (February 13). The BCCI also revealed that it had received massive 1525 registration for the marquee event, out of which they shortlisted 246 Indians and 163 overseas players.

“Out of 409 players, 246 are Indians and 163 are overseas players of which 8 players are from associate nations. The total capped players are 202, uncapped players are 199 and 8 from associate nations,” said the BCCI in a statement.

Among the 246 Indian players who made it to the board’s final list, 51 have already represented the nation at the international level. Notably, a total of 90 slots are available with the five teams, of which 60 are reserved for Indian players.

Each team will enter the auction with a purse of 12 crores. But unlike the men’s Indian Premier League (IPL), where the maximum base price for players is INR 2 crore, the highest base price in the inaugural edition of the WPL has been set to INR 50 Lakh.
