Lizelle and Tanja got hitched on Sunday, September 06.
Lizelle will soon feature for Melbourne Renegades in WBBL 2020.
South Africa cricketer Lizelle Lee tied the knot with her partner Tanja Cronje on Sunday, September 06. Lee and Tanja, who have been in a relationship for almost five years, were expected to get married on April 10 this year. But, the ongoing pandemic played a spoilsport.
Lee broke the news on Instagram by posting an adorable picture and wrote: “Now I get to call you my wife. Special day spent with special people! Love you so much.”
Ever since making her debut in 2013, Lee has grown into one of the most consistent batters for South Africa. She has amassed 1664 runs in 74 T20Is, and 2602 runs in 82 ODI matches for the national team.
Lee last featured for the Proteas in a semi-final defeat against Australia at the 2020 ICC T20 World Cup. Thereafter, cricketing action came to an abrupt halt due to the coronavirus.
South Africa was scheduled to tour England this month for a triangular series, but they pulled out owing to COVID-19 travel restrictions.
“It is frustrating that another opportunity for our Proteas (women) to play against top-quality opposition has again had to be cancelled but as always the safety of our players and support staff is the prime consideration,” Director of Cricket Graeme Smith said.
Lizelle will be next seen in Big Bash League
Lizelle will be next seen in action while plying her trade for Melbourne Renegades in the Women’s Big Bash League (WBBL). The tournament will start from the next month (October 25), and all matches will be played inside a biosecure bubble in Sydney.
Lizelle seems to be quite excited about the upcoming edition of the WBBL as evident from her recent Instagram post.
“Anywhere. Anytime. Cricket Australia has today announced the whole WBBL|06 season will be played in Sydney. It starts on October 25. We’ll be ready,” captioned Lizelle.
