Jahanara Alam has expressed her desire to dismiss Virat Kohli in a recent interview.
Alam supports KKR in IPL and dreams of playing cricket someday at the iconic Eden Gardens.
Jahanara Alam, since her debut in 2011, has emerged into one of the most prolific wicket-takers for Bangladesh women’s team. Jahanara is a versatile fast-bowler who has been highly effective in the shortest format of the game. She, along with Rumana Ahmed and skipper Salma Khatun form the backbone of Tigress’ bowling attack.
Jahanara was last seen in action in the 2020 Women’s T20 World Cup. She put on a stellar display of her skills, claiming 4/22 against Pakistan in a warm-up match at Brisbane. But, she failed to pick any wickets in the main-round of the tournament.
In her recent interview, the Khulna-born cricketer has revealed that she carries an ardent desire to dismiss the India skipper Virat Kohli.
“I would like to dismiss Virat Kohli,” Jahanara was quoted as saying in Anandabazar.
Jahanara further revealed that Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) is her favourite team in the Indian Premier League (IPL) and she also followed Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) when Shakib Al Hasan plied his trade for the Hyderabad-based franchise.
Shakib is a two-time IPL champion with KKR and also played the tournament final in 2018 season with SRH. However, the all-rounder would not extend his service for SRH in 2020 as he has been banned from competitive cricket for two years.
“KKR is my favourite IPL team. When Shakib Al Hasan bhai played for Sunrisers Hyderabad, I supported SRH as well. This time, there’s no Bangladesh cricketer in the IPL. I will support KKR itself. I can’t explain why I love KKR so much, but ever since the IPL started, I supported them,” Jahanara said.
“I haven’t had the privilege of playing at the Eden Gardens. Hopefully, one day I can play there and at the Lord’s. Most legends of the game have played at the venues and even I want to play there,” Jahanara concluded.
