Zimbabwe set to be included in Women's ODI Championship from 2026

Zimbabwe will join the Women's ODI Championship for the 2026-29 cycle, expanding the competition from 10 to 11 teams.

Zimbabwe were granted WODI status in 2021.

This Championship was introduced in 2014 as an 8-team competition, featuring top teams like Australia, England, India, and New Zealand.

Australia won the first two editions of the Women's Championship, which served as qualifying pathways for the 2017 and 2022 Women's World Cups.

In the ongoing 2022-25 cycle, ten teams are competing in eight series (home or away), with the top five teams qualifying directly for the 2025 Women's World Cup.

Zimbabwe are currently ranked 14th on the Women's ODI table, behind Associate teams like the Netherlands (13th), Scotland (12th), and Thailand (9th).

Zimbabwe's elevation to the Women's ODI Championship is influenced by strategic and financial considerations, ensuring they can meet touring and hosting commitments.

With Zimbabwe's inclusion, all Full Member nations except Afghanistan, which does not field a women's team, will participate in the ICC Women's Championship.
